             Do's & Don'ts of Cable Termination

Good Cable preparation and proper cable accessories installation can provide durable and reliable cable termination system. On the contrary, substandard preparation and installation will cause failure of the termination system.With all the credit to the jointer, here are some Do’s and Don’ts for a reliable and effective Termination system.

The Do's of Cable Terminations

  • Do read the Instruction Manual before Starting
  • Do ensure staff is qualified & skilful
  • Do Use Proper Tools
  • Ensure Terminal Lugs are installed firmly
  • Install and position Rainshed correctly
  • Remove PVC Tape Phase markers after connecting cores
  • Ensure Rainshed collar is fully shrunk
  • Do establish proper earthing connections
  • Do check each component is properly shrunk

The Don'ts of Cable Terminations
  • Don’t use knife to mark screen cut.
  • Don’t use substitutes
  • Don't put sharp bends in cable cores, avoid crossovers
  • Don't allow Rainsheds of a three-core termination to touch
